Sharing my song demo for "Days of Ease"

As we enter December, the final month of this very long year with all its many ups and downs, one song bubbled to the surface for me to share with you all. I first wrote “Days of Ease” in July of 2022. As with several of my pieces of art, it was inspired by a combination of my work in the immigration field and the lives my close friends.

In this case, I had just facilitated a group for immigration legal staff in which they were having a particularly hard time. I was also holding space in my heart for a friend navigating uncertainty and doubt. Thus, my inner artist child sang to me: I wish you luck, I wish you peace, I wish you days of ease that open and release. Those are the first lines in the voice memo from July 11, 2022.

A year later, I returned to “Days of Ease” and created a demo, including piano and orchestration. Since then, listening to this song has felt like a helpful hug whenever I’ve been going through a hard time. As we enter the end of 2025 and the holiday season, I am holding onto the lyrics in the second verse: I wish you joy, I wish you love, I wish you all the wisdom of the stars above. Sounds appropriate to share here Under the Starlight right?

So wherever you are, in whatever place you’re in physically and emotionally, know that I am sending you this message from my heart and wishing you ease as we close out this turn around our own lovely star.
