Jumping in the Deep End!
Upcoming opportunities to support my ART
Where have I been? Deep in Creationland - a place I escape to as often as I can. (Though I did get to enjoy this beautiful snow day!)
Recently there has been an intense intentionality to my heads-down creating mode. I am preparing for some super exciting things coming up in the next couple of weeks. I have lifted my head up to write this Substack post because a) I missed you and b) I also desperately wanted to share these updates with all of you!
1. I am officially pitching Pinteon the Musical!
Hold onto your gossamer wings because next week on March 26th I will be PITCHING Pinteon the Musical for a free staged reading with Musical Writers!! Four of us were selected from the pool of submissions, and I am so proud to be one of them. If you’ll remember, I recently shared some of the hard work I did to be ready to submit for pitching (and do a table reading). It feels good to know that it was extra worth it.
How can you support me?
Join Musical Writers on their Facebook Page as they go Live Thursday March 26th at 6pm CT and watch me pitch my show! (Spoiler alert: there may be graphics, there may be animation, there may be songs, and there may be a secret surprise format!) Pinteon is a show all about the power of community, and it would mean so much to me to have my community there cheering me and my show on.
2. I am having my first ART SHOW!
On Saturday April 4th I will be hosting my first ever art show at the Fab Lab on 38th Street in Tacoma, Washington. I will have original works of mixed media, gel printing, and poetry. I will ALSO have a live performance of a selection of my original songs on ukulele and vocals! And - and - my poems with watercolor illustrations are being scanned and printed into a limited edition poetry book!
How can you support me?
If you’re in the area - come to my show of course! Saturday April 4 11am-1pm (live music at 12pm).
If you’re in another part of the country - tune in around 12pm PT to Instagram where I will go live with my musical performance. ALSO I will share the link to pre-order my limited edition, hand-bound watercolor poetry book soon. Keep an eye out for that. And in general, share with your networks to support my art!
3. Submission Deadlines
On March 31st I will be submitting Pinteon for an additional reading opportunity with the Epiphanies Festival and my YA novel World Without Oxygen to a book competition to receive financial and industry support as a writer. It just so happens that when it rains opportunities, it pours! I am doing my best to keep moving toward all of my many March/April deadlines.
How can you support me?
i) Subscribe to this Substack! You can do so for free, or on a paid monthly or annual subscription.
ii) You can also Buy Me a Coffee to keep me caffeinated during this final push.
iii) Sharing the information about the pitch meeting and art show with your networks is also super helpful, as advertising can be a huge lift on top of the creating process.
iv) Lastly, reading this Substack and leaving a little comment of encouragement goes a long way. <3
Wishing you creativity in all its forms,
Ana Vidina Starlight
